Modern Architecture In Guatemala In The Works Of Pelayo Llarena, Transition Phenomena
Keywords:
modern architecture, space ages, genetic epistemology, itinerance, radianceAbstract
Modern architecture in Guatemala had its beginnings in the works of architects trained abroad, before the Foundation of the Faculty of Architecture of the USAC. This
study addresses the work of one of them, the architect formed in the United States,
Pelayo LLarena, whose work is approached from the theoretical perspective of Sigfried
Giedion on the evolution of the idea of space in architecture, with respect to the
concepts of roaming and radiance. With such concepts, an analysis of the work of this author is made, from the perspective of the spatial epistemological method proposed by Giedion, in terms of the different spatial conceptions in architecture.
