Abstract

The 55th Congress of Americanists was held during the year 2015, in the city of San
Salvador. This was an occasion for exchange of ideas about the changes developed
in America after the borbonic reforms and the enlightment. These reflections led,
during the following years to the publication of the book Visions of the neoclassic in Architecture, coordinated by Dr. Luis Arnal Simon and Dra. Diana Ramiro Esteban. The
book, published by UNAM, included the participation of researchers both from UNAM, and USAC. It was presented in public at the Lino Picaseño Library, the 30th august, 2019. In that occasion, Dr. Xavier Cortés Rocha made a brief summary of the book,
transcribed here.

Author Biography

Xavier Cortés Rocha, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México

Es profesor titular en la División de Estudios de Posgrado de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la UNAM, quien le otorga el doctorado en arquitectura, maestro en urbanismo y arquitecto. Fue director de la FA de 1990 a 1996, coordinador general de Estudios de Posgrado y posteriormente, secretario general de la UNAM. De 2001 a 2009 fue director de Sitios y Monumentos del Patrimonio Cultural del Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes de México.
