Abstract

The most relevant characteristics of the urban architecture of the municipality of Quezaltepeque in the department of Chiquimula are exposed. These material evidences exposed in the work constructed to understand them within the sociocultural context are addressed. It comprises the constitution of the urban space from the houses with specific features and that both in the urban layout and in the elevation of its facades, configure the space by projecting ideas of miscegenation. It reflects on a miscegenation that includes diverse cultural components, both Hispanic and indigenous Ch’orti ’, elucidating how cultural interaction becomes one in the architectural expression.
