Abstract
This study is part of the first phase of a longer study that wants to know how the houses of the Nueva Guatemala have been inhabited or used. The study searches about how living spaces were used in important town houses, built as a consequence of the relocation of the city after the destruction of Antigua Guatemala.
This initial period goes from 1776 to 1821. Analyses the functional aspects of the houses, because, the formal aspects are going to be developed in the next part of the study. The study begins with the relocation of the settlement, then describes the domestic activities that were developed during every day life in Santiago de los Caballeros, this, only as a general background in order to determine how long this way of living persisted on the Nueva Guatemala.
