Comparative description between the manufacture of a colonial Altarpiece and a current Altarpiece

Abstract

This year -2019- it will culminate a very important project within the sacred religious and artistic field in Guatemala. It's the main altarpiece of the Church of San Francisco El Grande in the Antigua Guatemala. We can say that both in the past - some 350 years ago - as today, build an altarpiece is a complex dynamic and implicit carries many aspects of organization and joint efforts of architects and artists. For this reason, and to contribute to the history of the Guatemalan art, is intended to make a comparison of how altarpieces were built in the colonial era and how are they built today, highlighting similar aspects and what has changed over time. It's a way as well as documented for posterity a work of art that is being made in our time and which contributes to beautify the interior of this important temple.
