Abstract

On the occasion of the commemoration of the bicentennial of Independence, we will
take a tour through the history and evolution of altarpieces in Guatemala. We can evidence three lines of stylistic development during this period of time: neoclassical, historicist and synthetic-minimalist. The research approach is qualitative, the specific methods used for the study is the formal descriptive one, according to a chronological development.
