Abstract

Among the varied sources for the study of the history of architecture and ism, cinema is the most notable absentee. Despite being the main means of mass culture, cinema (also considering its dissemination through television) it is not used but sporadically as a historical source. Filmic sources are abundant and centers have been one of the cliches in both short and feature films cinematographic productions, both fiction films and documentaries, reports, news. In Guatemala and in the USAC in particular, we have, in the University Cinematheque "Enrique Torres", a collection of films that have not been used and which correspond to the presidential term of Lazaro Chacon, Jorge Ubico and Juan Jose Arevalo (1927-1951). They are recorded images of the entire country, especially centers, so we can approach for historical reconstruction of the main departmental and municipal capitals.
