Abstract

The urban poor, is set in the peripheral areas of the most populated municipalities of the metropolitan area, the urban area without proper installation of basic services and in precarious conditions and risk spreading, which is a reality of the socio-economic status the poorest sectors of the population. Based on this same manifesto, presented by the Center for Urban and Regional Studies at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala (CEUR) research
“Segregation, Vulnerability and Social Exclusion in Guatemala City”, product of scientific work researcher Amanda Moran Mérida. This article aims to examine the contributions of the research concerning the illegal occupation of the territory by slums and relate with input and
implementation in the Policies of Housing and Human Settlements (DECREE NUMBER 120-96). In this exercise analytic, first reading the book and consult other related documents were developed by extracting the most relevant, followed aspects proceeded to knowledge and scope of the National Housing and Human Settlements, making a list of the contents research of Dr. Moran.
