Abstract

Guatemala’s geopolitical situation has determined and limited its development, this situation started to be defined more precisely in the first half of the twenty centuries, due to the political and social changes that occurred worldwide. That is how the country has a clear and strong influence of the “American Style” coming from the United States of America.
The style was brought to Guatemala by Adolfo Nathan who was born and studied in
Germany, his native country, and like so many people at that time, he was forced to
leave Europe. He migrated to Guatemala where he developed within his profession
a new and high-quality vision that worked well and was accepted by a conservative
society that wished to present the country with a new perspective.
