The mechanical problems on the architecture of Joseph de Porres

Abstract

Study of the theoretical influences, from the point of view of science of geometry and mechanics on architecture; considering the continuity of the helenic thinking of the peripatetic school on the translations and paraphrasis of the mechanical problems or meccanica problemata of Aritotele, as well as the presence of these concepts in the conventual libraries of Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala; on the architectural praxis through the geometría fabrorum, based on ruler and compass; and on the works of Joseph de Porres, master of architecture during the last third of the XVII century.
